90s Classic Commercial Jingle Makes a Comeback in Minnesota

If you lived in Minnesota in the 90s, a classic commercial jingle from back then is back again, just in time for winter.

I admit, I'm a sucker for both jingles and nostalgia, so this story was right up my alley. It centers on one of those earworms-- the kind that gets stuck in your head and you're then stuck singing the rest of the day-- but this isn't a song, it's a TV and radio commercial jingle.

And this classic commercial jingle was indeed popular here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, as well as behind the Cheddar Curtain over in Wisconsin, where I was living at the time. It's the jingle for SPLASH Wash Weather Repel, and when it was originally used the first time, nearly 30 years ago, that jingle seemed to be everywhere.

If you're not familiar, 'SPLASH ^® provides innovative products that protect against extreme weather and road conditions in any season. The comprehensive SPLASH^® product line includes windshield wash, wiper blades, pressure washer soap, de-icing fluids, ice melt, antifreeze, fuel treatment, and cleaning products,'  the SPLASH website explains.

SPLASH is based in here the North Star State and is a part of the Factory Motor Parts (FMP) family of brands, its site says. And their classic commercial jingle that says you should "...apply a little Splash!" is once again being used in their advertising.

According to the advertising industry website The Minneapolis Egotist, the new version of the SPLASH jingle debuted earlier this week, and was revived in a new, animated commercial by fellow Minneapolis-based advertising firms, Griffin Archer and Motion 504. 

This new commercial is actually the second that those two firms created for SPLASH, the story says, but is apparently the first to use that classic jingle again. You can check out the new version below, and also an earlier, commercial (this one's not animated, though) from a few years back. Just don't blame us if you're singing about 'applying a little Splash' the rest of the day!
