Minnesotan’s Worst Nightmare: Tater Tot Recall Due to Possible Contamination

But in all seriousness, there really is a big tater tot recall.

Tater Tot Recall Due to Possible Plastic Contamination
The tater tots being recalled are produced by McCain Foods, which supplies tater tots for brands like Ore-Ida and Sonic Tots. Those two brands are the ones that have been hit by this recall.
The recall was initiated voluntarily by McCain Foods due to possible contamination of "small hard plastic fragments".

Thankfully, as of right now, the recall isn't affecting tater tots sold directly to customers in stores. However, the recall keeps expanding, so you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for any announcement on that, just in case.
The recall is mostly affecting places that would have ordered tater tots in bulk, so restaurants or cafeterias, places like that.
The recalled items are as follows (as specified in the FDA's recall notice):
Ore-Ida Tater Tots shaped potatoes, item number OIF00215A. Frozen potato product is packaged in clear unlabeled poly bag (6/5 lb bags), Net Wt. 30 lbs (13.6 kg)/ case. UPC on 30 lbs case label: 1 00 72714 00215 8
Sonic Tots, item number SON00543. Frozen potato product is packaged in clear unlabeled poly bags (6/5 lb), Net Wt 30 lbs (13.61 kg)/ case. UPC 0 00 72714 00543 5
A whopping 21,557 cases of the Ore-Ida tater tots are a part of this recall, and 67 cases of the Sonic Tots.
