Numerous Severe Storms Expected in SE Minnesota, NE Iowa, and SW Wisconsin
You might want to put your garbage cans in the garage. Strong storms are expected with high winds that could create a real mess. There's nothing worse than getting home from work and having to walk up and down the street picking up trash that's blown everywhere. You should also lay your basketball hoop down, and secure any patio furniture or loose items.
It's not just the wind we need to be concerned about. According to the National Weather Service, there's a significant risk of hail that could cause damage, and they're warning about the potential for tornadoes.
A wind advisory is in effect for parts of northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and western into central Wisconsin today with wind gusts up to 45 mph expected.
This morning, the La Crosse branch of the National Weather Service posted an update on its Facebook page.
They urged everyone to stay alert to the weather and be ready to seek shelter indoors as storms approach.
Numerous Severe Storms Expected on Tuesday, April 16th
According to the NWS, "Showers and storms move through the Upper Mississippi River Valley today with some storms becoming severe. Large hail and a few tornadoes are the primary threats, especially across northeast Iowa into far southwest Wisconsin."
Your afternoon commute could be impacted because the strongest storms will move through the region between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
