Former CMX Chateau Theater in Rochester Being Reimagined Under New Ownership
Last summer, CMX Chateau Theater by Purple Goat in Rochester closed it's doors. It has sat empty ever since, but an interesting job posting lead me down a rabbit hole and now we have confirmation that something exciting is coming.
The former CMX Chateau Theater is going to be undergoing some major luxury upgrades like reclining, heated leather seats, semi-private viewing areas, and food and drink service.

Job Posting for Paragon Theaters at Former CMX Chateau Theater Address
The reason I went down a rabbit hole was because of a post on the Rochester Reddit page. Someone shared a screenshot of a job posting on Indeed for a company called Paragon Theaters looking for an Operations Manager with the address 3450 E Circle Drive NE, Rochester, MN 55906. Well, that's the address of the former CMX Chateau Theater.
I also found the same job posting on LinkedIn.
We reached out to Paragon Theaters to see if our theory is true, that they are opening in the former CMX Chateau Theater, and got some exciting news.
Yes! Paragon Theaters is taking over that location and they're working on some super cool, luxury upgrades.

Paragon Theaters Taking Over Former CMX Chateau Theater in Rochester
Paragon actually owned this same movie theater in the past, from 2011 to 2017. In 2017, they sold it to CMX.
Now they're coming back and co-CEO Michael Whalen says they are really excited to be back in Rochester.
But what I'm really excited about are these upgrades they're making.
Paragon has this amenity they call Axis15 Extreme. Basically, the movie screen is at a 15-degree tilt, which apparently makes it the perfect angle for viewing maximization. The technology also includes 4k laser projection and Dolby Atmos immersive audio.
On top of that, they'll also be upgrading to the Lux Box Seating, "Paragon’s premium dine-in seating concept", which is what I'm super excited about.
Lux Box guests can relax in heated reclining seats within a more private seating area and order food and beverages from the theater’s kitchen and bar by scanning a QR code at their individual tables.
I'm insanely excited to check this out myself! Paragon says they plan to open in late October.
