I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts of fall is finding a good corn maze to get completely turned around in with my corn-loving wife (see above). And if you’ve never been to Big Springs Farm down in Lanesboro (the most charming town in the U.S.) it’s one of the best you’ll find in Southeast Minnesota. Every year, they go all out, and for 2025, they might’ve topped themselves.

The maze stretches across 10 acres with more than five miles of paths. And it’s not just about wandering around in the corn. This thing has 12 checkpoints, a lookout tower you can climb to get the full view, and even a secret checkpoint that isn’t marked on the map. You’ve got to find it the old-fashioned way, by getting lost.

The maze is also set up with several games you can play. There’s a "Who Dunit?" mystery to solve, or you can scan a QR code and try navigating with GPS. And if you’re feeling brave, wait for one of the October flashlight nights and see how far you get in the dark.

New Attractions and Themed Food at Big Springs Farm and Corn Maze

So what’s the theme this year? They’re going bigger than ever, literally. The 2025 corn maze at Big Springs Farm is all about Minnesota folklore icons Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox!

This year, the farm is introducing a couple of new things as well. The first new attraction at Big Springs is The Waterway Range, a paintball setup where you can test your aim.

And because no Minnesota fall festival is complete without a little over-the-top food, they’ve gone all-in with new snacks to match the corn maze theme.

This year, they are introducing us to Paul’s Snack-On-An-Axe... a ribeye, a brat, and bacon all on a stick, served with a side of maple syrup. Wash down those meats with the new Babe’s Blue Lemonade Slushie. Not exactly your average corn dog and cider situation.

Of course, all the classics are back too: pumpkin patches (with more than 100 varieties), a sunflower field in September, and a fall flower field that sticks around until the first frost. There’s also the pumpkin barn, giant slides, a zipline swing, duck races, farm animals, and a whole lot of kid-friendly activities.
