Winter in Minnesota seems to be a little extra brutal this year.  Last week, numerous schools in Rochester closed due to extremely dangerous wind chills.  I know that I wasn't too sure if our cars would start when I saw -45 with the wind chill as a prediction from the National Weather Service.

Fingers crossed that Mother Nature will put an end to these frigid temperatures soon.  Until then, one school in Rochester could use a bit of help.  There has been a huge rush of students needing warm items to wear during these cold days.  But the school just released a few more of the top needs that they are seeing at the moment.  Look through those below, and if you are able, see if you can help.

Local School in Rochester, Minnesota Needs Help Gathering A Few Items For Students

The past few years, I have had many conversations with teachers and other staff members in the area.  I've walked the halls of most of the schools in Rochester and heard about some of the challenges students in our community are facing...many that are of no fault of their own.  Kids that come to school without mittens or boots.  Students who rely on the meal provided at school because sometimes, that is the only meal they all all day.

When students show up to school, they are met by staff who have so much compassion.  I've had a chance to see that in action as I've toured different community rooms that are full of resources for students - any student that needs it.

There are times when these rooms start to need help themselves - just like this message...

A sincere THANK YOU from our Rocket Community Room. Today dozens of JM students (both new and old) have been making their way into the Community Room for winter jackets, mittens, clothing, socks, hygiene, school supplies & more. If you ever wonder if your donations matter - they do!
