Four Mom-Recommended Ways To Keep Mosquito Bites Away
If you seem to be a magnet for mosquitoes, just being outside for a few minutes on a hot, humid day in the summer can be absolutely miserable. And according to NBCnews.com, West Nile Virus has been reported in more than 1/3 of the states. Minnesota isn't on that list yet, but it is still important to protect our skin from those bites. If the traditional bug spray just isn't cutting it anymore for mosquito bites, below are a few crowdsourced ideas from moms in Minnesota who swear these tips have worked for them.
Tip #1: Proven Lotion
"If you ever want to go to a park, bike ride, or even on a camping trip with your kids, and the mosquitoes pick you as a favorite, Proven lotion is a must-have!" - Lisa
Tip #2: Buggy Bands
"My daughter thinks that this is just part of what we wear every day. She sees that I have a hair band on my wrist (shh...it is actually a hair band) so she puts on her "hair band" too as she gets dressed. She is 5 so she wants to do everything herself. We are outside all of the time and once we started using Buggy Bands, she has had less bites. It's a win for me. Might be worth a try for the mom who needed some help today." - Erica
Tip #3: Mosquito Patches
"My little guy is all boy and is always moving 100% of the time. The mosquitoes were still able to catch him though and a few weeks ago, I counted 10 bites on his little legs and arms. I decided to try something new this summer because the bugs just are horrible where we live and found these dino stickers. He loves them! And, I love them because they seem to be keeping the bug bites away too." - Amanda
Tip #4: Toss Out These 4 Colors In Your Wardrobe
I know it sounds odd, but studies have shown that there are specific colors you should avoid wearing if you don't want mosquito bites. I had to throw out my entire summer wardrobe because of this list but I will say, it has helped a little bit. Find the colors that are recommended to wear and the color wheel to avoid here.

Do You Have A Question For "Help A Mom Out!"?
Life as a mom is awesome! But there is also the flip side where you are functioning on 3 hours of sleep, but if you want to survive the next diaper change, you have to head to Target ASAP because there are zero wipes left in the house. And, while you are in aisle 21, your toddler decides NOW is the best time to throw the biggest fit that store has ever seen. Yep, that is your child. And yes, you still love them but man...this is NOT a good day.
What do you need help with? What questions have you been wondering about that you could use some tips on from other moms who, well, have been through this stage of life already? That is what "Help A Mom Out!" is all about. No question is silly. No question is ridiculous. And if you are asking it, there is a 100% possibility that another mom is thinking it right now too.
