[FRIDAY UPDATE]

The Orange Krush has offered an apology.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Saturday's Iowa-Illinois men's basketball game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City is a sellout. Now, a disagreement between the Iowa Athletics Department and the Illinois student section is making things even more interesting.

Each year during the college basketball season, the Illinois student section (which calls itself The Orange Krush) attends one road game. This year, the Illinois students decided they'd descend on Iowa City for this Saturday's game against the Hawkeyes. They placed an order for 200 tickets months ago. They say they received the tickets back in October.

Now, fast forward to Wednesday. The University of Iowa canceled the order.

The Iowa Athletics Department says they, "became aware of a discounted group ticket order (for the game) on behalf of an Illinois chapter of the Boys and Girls Club. In following up with that organization, it became clear this was not factual. When contacting the individual who made the original ticket order, they admitted to falsely ordering tickets under the non-profit organization."

The University of Iowa refunded the money spent on the tickets and, instead, is giving those tickets to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids.

A statement from the Iowa Athletics Department regarding Saturday’s game vs Illinois:

The Orange Krush isn't happy. They released a lengthy statement which pulls no punches, I assure you. It reads in part, "... we take it as a great compliment that the Orange Krush is a strong enough section to be so feared that an opposing athletic department is willing to sacrifice $5400 and ruin a sellout in order to turn us away. Gary Barta and staff, we issue great thanks to all of you for the adoration you have shown the Orange Krush through your cowardice."

Yeah, they could work on their tact. Here's the full statement.

If you weren't fired up for Saturday's game before, I expect you are now. Iowa and Illinois tip-off at 1:30 p.m. The game is being televised by Fox. It's the only meeting between the two teams this season unless they meet at the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago. If they do, you can bet The Orange Krush will be ready.

Oh, and Go Hawks!
