There were at least five people killed on Iowa roadways over the weekend, and the week has begun with a double-fatality accident.

No less than seven have now been killed in five different accidents in Iowa since early Saturday morning.

According to KWWL, two vehicles were involved in a crash in the 4200 block of Highway 63 (Logan Avenue) in Waterloo just before 8 this morning. There were at least four people inside the two vehicles. One person in each was killed, and two passengers in one of the vehicles involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Tuesday morning, May 23, authorities released the names of the two people killed in the accident. They've been identified as 58-year-old William Smith and 31-year-old Aimee Bowers. Both were from Denver, Iowa.

One Person Killed in I-380 Accident

A one-vehicle accident just after 3:05 Saturday morning, May 20, along I-380 southbound near Center Point, killed one person. 10-year-old Elijah Beeman of Waterloo died when the Chevy Venture he was riding in rolled and ended up on its top. Two other people in the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Farmer Killed When Tractor Struck by Another Vehicle

86-year-old Clarence Borton of Albion, in Marshall County in central Iowa, was killed just after 11:15 Saturday morning, May 20. The Iowa State Patrol reports Borton had driven a tractor from a private drive onto Highway 330 when he was struck from behind by a 2016 Dodge Caravan. Borton died at the scene, while two people in the Dodge Caravan were taken to a nearby hospital.

15-Year-Old Killed in Crash in Delaware County

15-year-old Caleb Jurgens of Hopkinton was killed just after noon on Sunday, May 21, when the motorcycle he was driving crossed the center line of 310th Avenue in rural Hopkinton and hit a Ford F-150 pickup head-on. The Iowa State Patrol says Jurgens passed away at the scene and two people in the pickup sustained minor injuries.

One Person Killed in Two Vehicle Crash in Southwest Iowa

In Montgomery County in southwest Iowa, 68-year-old Miles Russell of Red Oak was killed in an accident just before 8 p.m. Sunday night, May 21.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Russell was driving a Ford F-150 eastbound on Highway 34 on the east side of Red Oak when he crossed the center line and struck the driver's door of a semi. Russell's vehicle then hit a road sign before coming to rest in the ditch. He was pronounced dead at a Montgomery County hospital. The semi-driver had minor injuries from the accident.

Man Dies During Police Chase in Southeast Iowa

19-year-old Reese Jones of Ottumwa was killed when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a Ford F-150 pickup that was stopped at the intersection of Highways 63 and 2 in Davis County. The Iowa State Patrol says Jones was fleeing law enforcement at the time and entered the intersection at a high rate of speed. The driver of the F-150 was not injured in the accident that happened at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday night, May 21.
