Suspicious Fires Under Investigation in Southeast Minnesota
Undated (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating suspicious fires in southeast Minnesota.
That’s according to a news release issued by the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday morning. The fires are being investigated by the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office.
The investigation stems from two fires that were reported on Friday. Deputies and Firefighters from the Mazeppa and Zumbrota Fire Department responded to a fire at an abandoned trailer on 232nd Ave. in Zumbrota Township. The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office also responded to a fire at a location 10 miles from the trailer fire on the same night, the news release says.
No other information regarding the fires has been released. Officials say there are no current suspects.
Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the fires to call the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office at 651-267-2623 or the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office at 651-565-1003.
The fire investigation comes as southeast Minnesota continues to deal with drought conditions that have dried out the area's land and vegetation. The dryness prompted the Rochester Fire Department and Olmsted County Sheriff's Office to issue a burn ban that was called off after the Labor Day Weekend.
