Southeast Minnesota Prep Football Playoffs Set

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The regular season has come to an end for high school football teams in southeast Minnesota.

For many schools the postseason will start on Tuesday. Several Section 1 semi-final games are set for Saturday, October 28. Section 1 finals that will send one team to the State Tournament are scheduled for Friday, November 3.

Below is the first round matchups for Section 1's 9-player, 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A classes.

9-Player Section Tournament

The Kingsland Knights took home the top seed for the 9-Player Section 1 Tournaments. The Knights finished the regular season 8-0.

Spring Grove, the defending Section Tournament champions and 2022 State Tournament runner-up is the 3-seed for this year's tournament.

Below are the Quarterfinal matchups. All games are set to kick off on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

 Section 1A Tournament

For the second straight season the Fillmore Central Falcons earned the top seed in the Section Tournament. In 2022, the Falcons made a historic run to the State Tournament Semi-final.

Below are the Quarterfinal matchups. All games are set to kick off on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

#8 Hayfield at #1 Fillmore Central

#7 Wabasha-Kellogg at #2 Bethlehem Academy

#6 Rushford-Peterson at #3 Kenyon-Wanamingo

#5 Blooming Prairie at #4 Goodhue

Section 1AA Tournament

Once again the Caledonia Warriors have claimed the top seed in the Section 1AA tournament. The Warriors capped off another undefeated season with a dominant 44-14 win at La Crescent-Hokah Wednesday night and have earned a first-round bye.

The Dover-Eyota Eagles earned the other first round bye and a two-seed in the tournament. The Eagles notched impressive wins against defending section champion Chatfield and Rochester-Lourdes this season.

#6 Cotter at #3 Chatfield (winner to face #2 Dover-Eyota on Saturday, October 28)

#5 Lewiston-Altura at #4 St. Charles (winner to face #1 Caledonia on Saturday, October 28)

Section 1AAA Tournament

The Stewartville Tigers are once again the top seed in their Section Tournament. The Tigers capped off their third-straight undefeated regular season with a 28-6 victory over Rochester-Lourdes Wednesday night and are looking to make it back-to-back trips to the State Tournament.

#8 Red Wing at #1 Stewartville

#7 Zumbrota-Mazeppa at #2 Rochester Lourdes

#6 La Crescent-Hokah at #3 Plainview-Elgin-Millville

#5 Pine Island at #4 Lake City

Section 1AAAA Tournament

The top two seeds in the Section 1AAAA Tournament each enjoyed one-loss seasons. Last year's section runner up Kasson-Mantorville took the top spot in the bracket and the Byron Bears have earned the two-seed.

The Bears only loss in the regular season was to the KoMets. K-M's only regular season defeat came at the hands of Stewartville. The #2 Bears will face the #3 Winona Winhawks, who also earned a bye, in the section semifinal on Saturday, October 28. 

The KoMets will get the winner of #5 Austin and #4 Faribault on Saturday, October 28. The Packers and Falcons play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Section 1AAAAA Tournament

The Section 1AAAAA tournament features a Med-City crosstown clash in Round 1. Owatonna has earned the top seed and a first round bye after a 6-2 season.

The sole game in the five-team section tournament that kicks off on Tuesday features a rematch between #5 Rochester Century and #4 Rochester John Marshall. The Rockets took the regular season matchup 40-33 earlier this month.

The re-match between the Panthers and Rockets kicks off at 7 p.m. The winner of the crosstown matchup faces Owatonna in semi final on Saturday, October 28. The other semi final is #3 New Prague at #2 Northfield.

Class 6A

Rochester Mayo will face St. Michael-Albertville in Round 1 of the postseason. The game is set to kick off on Friday, October 27 at 7 p.m.
