Police Investigating Fatal Hit & Run in South Minneapolis

Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minneapolis Police are working to identify and locate a motorist who left the scene after striking and fatally injuring a pedestrian Friday night.

The deadly incident was reported around 9:30 PM in South Minneapolis at the intersection of East Lake Street and 13th Avenue South near Powderhorn Park. The preliminary investigation has determined a woman who struck by a white pickup truck on Lake Street and the driver fled the scene by speeding south on 13th Avenue.

When Minneapolis Police arrived at the scene, they reported that firstt responders were already performing lifesaving measures on the victim, who was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center where she died from her injuries. The woman's name has not been released.
