That’s according to a message posted to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page by Sheriff Scott Rose. He posted the warning to Dodge County residents on Monday.

Rose said the sheriff’s office received reports of getting a phone call from an individual claiming to be Don Elliot from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. The scammer, who placed the phone call from a 507-200-6650, claimed he had important legal matters to discuss.

The sheriff said he called the scammer and left a message in which he identified himself and said he wanted to discuss some legal manners. He said the scammer has not returned his call.

Rose thanked the community for bringing the scam call to his attention.
