Olmsted County Contributes $420K to Wastewater Project
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Olmsted County has announced a $420,000 contribution to a significant water quality project that was recently awarded state funding.
The county contribution will be added to a contribution by Cascade Township to help pay the cost of constructing a wastewater system to serve the Zumbro Ridge Estates mobile home park on the northeast edge of Rochester. The county contribution utilizes federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, which authorizes investments in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure projects.
A news release says the Olmsted County funding will help cover the cost of decommissioning the existing wastewater treatment plant and replacing deteriorating and failing connection lines.
“All Olmsted County residents deserve access to safe and healthy living environments,” said Olmsted County Board of Commissioners Chair Mark Thein. “This new system helps protect the environment and provides residents of Zumbro Ridge Estates with a reliable and modern sewage treatment system that will serve them for years to come.”
Just last month, the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority announced a $1.8 million grant have been awarded to Cascade Township to fund a project that will connect the Zumbro Ridge Estates complex and the nearby Hallmark Terrace mobile home park to Rochester's wastewater treatment system. Cascade Township is contributing a total of $450,000 to the projects.
