MN Man Brought Back From Middle East to Face Child Porn Charges
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minnesota man has been captured in the Middle East and returned to the state to face child pornography and other charges.
The US Attorney for Minnesota says 30-year-old Ibrahim Sleyman of Bloomington fled to the United Arabic Emirates last September after he became aware that he was the target of a law enforcement investigation. Federal officials did not specify when and how he was apprehended in the UAE, but they say he was taken into custody by the FBI upon his return to the United States on September 15th of this year.
Sleyman faces a federal indictment that charges him with production of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, enticement of a minor, transfer of obscene material to a minor, and identity theft. He was formally arraigned in federal court in Minneapolis on Monday and has been ordered held without bail pending trial.
According to court documents, Sleyman "used Snapchat and other messaging apps to solicit sexually explicit material and sex acts from minors, some as young as nine years old." It is alleged that he groomed and enticed a young victim to produce child pornography and engage in sexual activity with him using drugs and gifts.
