Minnesota’s 2nd Officer-Involved Shooting of 2024 Results in Suspect’s Death
East Grand Forks, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota BCA is investigating an officer-involved shooting that led to the death of a suspect.
Limited information is available, however the Polk County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and members of the East Grand Forks Police Department and the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force were executing an arrest warrant on Tuesday.
Law enforcement was serving the warrant at a residence in Rhinehart Township, which is across the Red River from southeastern Grand Forks, ND.
A news release issued by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the officer-involved shooting occurred after the suspect exited the residence then went back inside with law enforcement.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital. The BCA said Tuesday evening that the suspect died at the hospital.
The state agency is leading the investigation into the deadly shooting and plans to release more information upon the completion of the preliminary investigation.
Tuesday’s shooting is the second officer-involved shooting the BCA has responded to in the new year. On Saturday the BCA announced an investigation into a police shooting that occurred in St. Paul.
The agency has not yet released the findings of its preliminary investigation of that shooting, however officials did say the suspect shot by St. Paul Police is expected to survive.
