Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Mayo Clinic is preparing for a change in its top leadership.
Dr. Gianrico Farrugia to Step Down in December
The world-renowned healthcare provider today announced that Mayo Clinic President and CEO Dr. Gianrico Farrugia has decided to step down at the end of the year. Dr. Farrugia assumed the leadership positions in January 2019.
Rochester Expansion Marks Farrugia’s Leadership Era
It has been a period of rapid expansion for Mayo Clinic with the implementation of its Bold. Forward. Unbound. strategy, including the massive $5 billion expansion project now taking place in downtown Rochester. A Mayo Clinic news release says under the strategy, “the institution has accelerated the discovery, translation and delivery of more cures for both chronic and acute diseases; connected more people with data to create new knowledge and deliver scalable, end-to-end solutions; and transformed healthcare by creating its first scalable, AI-enabled care transformation platform.”

The news release also notes that, for eight straight years, Newsweek has recognized Mayo Clinic as the world’s best hospital.

Mayo Clinic Board Launches CEO Search
The Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees has initiated a formal leadership transition process and expects to name a new president and CEO in November.
