National Weather Service Confirms Funnel Cloud in Fillmore County
Spring Valley, MN (KROC-AM News)- The National Weather Service is now confirming that a funnel cloud was spotted in Fillmore County during Saturday’s severe weather outbreak across southern Minnesota.

Two rounds of severe storms fueled by hot and humid conditions brought a tornado, damaging winds, heavy rain and large hail to portions of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Strong wind gusts knocked down trees and limbs in Rochester, toppled power lines in Dodge County and brought hail as large as 3.5 inches in Rice County and two inches in parts of the Mississippi River Valley.
An 81 mph wind gust was reported between Stewartville and the Rochester Airport.
The National Weather Service also reported a tornado sighting just southwest of Kenyon.
An official storm report, which was issued following the severe weather outbreak, does confirm a tornado in Rice County. Details regarding the twister are not yet available.
National Weather Service: Funnel Cloud Spotted Near Spring Valley on Saturday
The storm recap also includes a delayed report of a funnel cloud spotted in Fillmore County. Video showed the cloud, which is not believed to have touched down, forming just northeast of Spring Valley, the National Weather Service says.
The highest reported wind gust in Fillmore County was clocked at 74 mph. Strong winds are also responsible for knocking down power lines and trees in Fountain, the report says.
