Update: Faribault Police ID 74-Year-Old Pedestrian Who Was Killed After Being Pinned Against a Walmart
Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News) - Police in Faribault say a man died today after he was pinned against a wall by a vehicle.
A news release says the deadly incident was reported around 9:50 a.m. in the parking lot of the Walmart store in Faribault. The statement says officers responded after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been pinned against a wall by a vehicle backing up in reverse.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 74-year-old Medford man conscious and semi-alert. The officers reported that he was complaining of back and pelvic pain.
Emergency responders from the Faribault Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance then arrived and provided medical care, but according to Faribault police, the man's condition quickly deteriorated, and he died from his injuries at the Allina Health Medical Center in Faribault.
His name and the name of the 68-year-old rural Kenyon man driving the pickup that struck the pedestrian have not been released.
While the fatal incident remains an active investigation, Faribault police say impairment by alcohol or other substances has been ruled out as a contributing factor.
