He’s accused of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate the crash, which occurred on the night of Dec. 8, at property northeast of Rochester in Viola Township.

The charges say 18-year-old Elijah Dana Thompson was doing donuts in a vehicle he had just bought in a friend’s field. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 40 mph when its back tires caught a corn stock, causing it to roll three or four times.

The occupants exited the vehicle through the sunroof. Deputies interviewed Thompson while checking on the status of the crash victims at the hospital.

Two passengers who were in the vehicle, one a juvenile female and the other a woman, were being treated for arm injuries. The complaint says a witness told law enforcement she believed Thompson was intoxicated.

Thompson admitted to having 2-3 beers before the crash, the charges say. He consented to a preliminary breath test which measured his blood alcohol concentration at .105.

A test of a blood sample obtained from Thompson around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 measured his blood-alcohol concentration at .092.
