Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating a costly garage fire that broke out at an Olmsted County home Wednesday evening.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin says deputies and the Stewartville Fire Department were called to the fire in the 11000 block of County Rd. 8 Southwest in rural Stewartville. The fire was reported around 6:40 p.m.

Parkin said arriving deputies reported seeing smoke coming from a three-car garage connected to the home. Stewartville firefighters contained the fire and put it out. No injuries were reported.

Two vehicles in the garage were damaged and the garage also suffered smoke damage. Parkin says a preliminary estimate puts the damages caused by the fire at $75,000. 

The Stewartville Fire Department has requested the assistance of the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office. The investigation into the cause of the garage fire is ongoing.
