Child Pornography Conviction Leads to Probation For Rochester Man
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man was sentenced Monday for his conviction on a child pornography possession charge.
27-year-old Rithvik Hari was ordered to serve two years on probation, during which he will be prohibited from having access to or using the Internet without approval from his probation agent. He is also barred from any contact with persons younger than 18 years old and vulnerable adults unless he is given prior approval by his supervising agent.
Hari earlier entered a guilty plea to a single count of possession of pornographic work depicting a minor under the age of 14. According to the criminal complaint, a Minneapolis police investigator contacted Rochester police about downloads over a peer-to-peer network of files depicting adults sexually abusing children that occurred between October 2021 and December 2022.
The court document says the downloads, between October 2021 and December 2022, were associated with an IP address linked to Hari. It also states the pornographic works involved in the case depicted sexual abuse inflicted on children as young as eight years old.
