Cannon Falls, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Cannon Falls Police Department has released the name of the man who was found dead inside a home following a more than five-hour-long standoff on Wednesday.

A news release says 25-year-old Dean I. Anderson of Cannon Falls was found dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head after members of an Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant around 5 PM and used a robot and drone to search the home in the 300 block of First Street North in Cannon Falls.

The news release notes that Anderson was "known to be hostile to law enforcement" and had firearms in the residence. It was also noted that officers learned that he had made prior statements that he would not go to jail.

Cannon Falls Police, with assistance from the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, and the State Patrol earlier established a perimeter around the residence around 11:30 a.m. after officers responded to a 911 call about a woman being shot in the residential neighborhood and found her believing from her head in the yard of the property. The woman, whose name is not been released, was transported by ambulance to a hospital where she was released after receiving treatment for a non-life-threatening injury.

As part of the law enforcement operation, Cannon Falls Police and firefighters safely evacuated nine children and an adult from a daycare business near where the shooting occurred. The incident also kept students and staff at a nearby school inside the building while the standoff with police was taking place and prompted authorities to close down a section of Highway 19, which was not reopened until investigators finished processing the crime scene at around 4:20 this morning.
