Austin Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash After Hayfield Bar Incident
Hayfield, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a disturbance at a Hayfield bar may have led to a fatal motorcycle crash Friday night.
A news release on the deadly incident says Dodge County deputies were called to a bar on Center Avenue in Hayfield around 10:15 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of a disturbance involving multiple people. The initial call indicated it was a loud verbal argument and that the parties involved had been separated.
Motorcycles Seen Speeding From the Scene
The Sheriff’s Office says the first deputy arrived at the bar at 10:22 p.m., and as he exited his squad car, he observed two motorcycles leaving the bar headed west on Main Street at a high rate of speed. The statement says the deputy assumed the motorcyclists were involved in the disturbance and drove west on Main Street in Hayfield until he came upon one of the motorcycles.
According to the news release, it appeared the motorcycle had crashed into a small outbuilding, and the driver—identified as 36-year-old Colten Burk of Austin—was found nearby in the grass and unresponsive. The deputy immediately began administering lifesaving efforts until the Hayfield Ambulance Service arrived at the scene, but Burk did not survive.
Search Conducted for Second Motorcyclist
Because of concerns that the second motorcycle may have also crashed, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone to conduct a search. It was later determined that the second motorcyclist had left the area.

There were no charges issued in connection with the disturbance at the bar. The news release says those involved had dispersed by the time the first deputy arrived.
