Folks from the country are handy. They had to be growing up, outside the city limits getting in the car for a 20-30 minute ride one way makes you try every available fix before you make the hour-plus ride back and forth. My grandfather used to tell me that "it takes all types of people to make the world go around, but the only way the world keeps spinning is because of a farmer." Here are 20 ways to identify if that person you are talking to was from outstate 'rural' Minnesota versus living in 'The Cities'.

I saw this post on the Minnesota Meme social media page and it spoke to me. I wasn't raised in greater Minnesota. I was a 'city' kid growing up. The only time I came close to seeing animals other than squirrels, rabbits, birds, cats, and dogs was when we'd take a field trip to the zoo. Kinda sad right?

A lot of people living in greater Minnesota grew up knowing some of these things and possibly also doing some of these before whereas I am still learning some of these.

How many of these can you identify with?

If You Grew Up In Rural Minnesota .......

*You know what knee-high by the Fourth of July means.

*You know it is traditional for the bride and groom to go bar hopping between the church& reception.

*You know the difference between Green and Red farm machinery, and would fight with your friends on the playground over which was better!

*You buy Christmas presents at Fleet Farm.

*You spent more on beer and liquor than you did on food at your wedding

*You hear someone use the word "oof-dah" and you don't break into uncontrollable laughter.

*You know that "combine" is a noun.

*You let your older siblings talk you into putting your tongue on a steel post in the middle of winter.
