The biggest event of the year has arrived in Minnesota! The Minnesota State Fair officially kicked off yesterday.

I saw a ton of photos of people trying out the deep-fried ranch, one of the new foods for the year, and I am so jealous of everyone who got to try it out!

Nonetheless, many people wait for the first day of the fair so they can be there right as the gates open. Last year, opening day had the lowest attendance numbers for the 2023 run.

Was that the case this year? Organizers always share attendance numbers for each fair day on the following day so I was curious to see how many people got to eat all the foods and drink all the fun new drinks.

Now, we have the answer. Drumroll, please....138,875 people attended the Minnesota State Fair on 2024 opening day!

A Record-Breaker!

The record for any opening day at the Minnesota State Fair? That would have been in 2019, when about 133,000 people walked through the gates on that first day. However, 2024 opening day has officially set a new record!

It will be fun to see how many people attend for the rest of the event and how it compares to years past! Of course, great Grandstand concerts also help and there are so many good ones this year.

I mean, even Chance The Rapper is excited about performing at the event - pretty much his only tour date this year.

After all, there's a reason the Minnesota State Fair is always earning accolades. In fact, the event was just named the best state fair in the country!
