There's a guy who is originally from Duluth, Minnesota who makes a bunch of fun videos. His name is Mav, and his social media presence is huge in the camping world. He has 2.4 Million subscribers and shares some pretty cool videos.

This one happened to catch my eye while I was scrolling through YouTube. He has a 2002 Volkswagon Beetle that has a truck camper built into the backseat and the frame.

It's definitely something you don't see every day. He took it out for a test run and brought his subscribers along for the ride.

First, he had to use a little duct tape for a quick mirror repair. That's always handy to have along, especially with a camping adventure like this.

He had some custom canvas made for the top of the camper that buttons over. The build quality looks pretty good, and it allows for ventilation.

I have to admit, I was surprised to see someone under the age of 40 know how to drive a manual transmission. Kudos to you, Mav. So much for the Gen Z anti-theft jokes.

It turned out to be a good stress test for the camper as he went through a thunderstorm along the North Shore.

He set up the camper, cooked a meal, and then fought with thousands of mosquitos. They sure do love to come out after a thunderstorm, don't they?

He thinks the problem was the gaps between the clasps for the canvas. Honestly, this image horrifies me. Think of all the bug bites.
