It Was Sooo Cold In Minnesota, Eggs Froze in Mid-Air?
Our little bout with the Polar Vortex last week provided an interesting opportunity to show how quickly the extreme cold could freeze an egg-- and it didn't take too long!
We've all heard the old adage in the summer about it being so hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk, right? Well, this is the Minnesota equivalent of that-- and it has to do with our way-cold winter temperatures.
And, as we all know, we were well below zero last week during that January cold snap. Temperatures here hit 30 degrees below zero, and as this video shows, those kinds of extreme cold temperatures make it pretty easy for things to freeze.
The YouTube series, Minnesota Cold, has been documenting just how the extreme cold weather has affected our daily lives here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes for several years now. Take a look at their egg experiment from last week (when it was -27) and how quickly an egg froze-- in mid-air!
