Intoxicated Man Accused of Spitting in Rochester Officer’s Face
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester Police Officer was transported to St. Mary’s hospital to undergo a decontamination procedure after he was assaulted late Saturday night.
Police Captain John Sherwin says the officer responded to a report of an intoxicated person in the 1400 block of 50th Street Northwest shortly before 11:30 p.m. and came upon a man with a bloodied to face who had apparently been fighting with a group of people. Almost immediately, the bloodied man ran toward the squad car and hit the driver side door after jumping on the hood. That led to a scuffle between the officer and the man, who is accused of spitting in the officer’s face.
Captain Sherwin says 22-year-old Emilio Olivarez was eventually subdued and was then transported to St. Mary’s hospital, where he allegedly assaulted members of the hospital staff.
Olivero was brought to the Olmsted County jail on Sunday and was booked on a felony assault count and other charges related to the incident.
