International Falls Warmer Than Miami!

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It felt like summer across northern Minnesota Thursday as temperatures soared into the 80’s and even low 90’s - warmer than it was in Florida.  

Several cities - including Roseau, Crookston, Warroad and Thief River Falls - had highs in the low 90’s. Even International Falls - the Icebox of the Nation -  was hot with a high of 89. The temperature in Fargo climbed from 53 degrees at 6 a.m. to 90 at 2 p.m.

It was warmer in northern Minnesota than in Florida (Fort Myers: 82, Miami: 83, Tampa: 80).

That warm air is now headed to southern Minnesota. And so is the danger of wildfires.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning that includes the upper 2/3rds of Minnesota. The Weather Service says while the warning does not include southeastern Minnesota, there is still a high risk of wildfires due to the expected dry, windy and warm conditions.  

Cooler weather will move into the region Friday night.
