Apparently, the "cool" thing to do is hate on Nickelback. I've seen a lot of posts on Facebook lately of people showing their complete disdain for them and I can't, for the life of me, figure out why. I actually don't mind them. Allow me to explain.Years ago, I had the chance to have lunch with Nickelback when I was at a station in Wisconsin. They're actually really down to earth guys that are just doing what they like doing. Making music. With a handful of listeners, they stood and talked to us all after lunch, signed autographs, took pictures, etc. It was a pretty good time.

Fast forward, some years later, now all of a sudden, it's "cool" to hate on them. I'm not saying I like ALL of their music. I can certainly do without some of the ballads and Top 40 type stuff but I'm not going to turn the station if I hear, "Side of a Bullet" or "Million Miles and Hour", "Edge of a Revolution", "Never Again", "Animals", "Something In Your Mouth." You get the idea.

There's a reason they've sold millions and millions of albums. It's not just me buying them (Because I don't pay for music HAHAHA) There's a reason their shows sell out all over the world. Because people like them. Even if I DID hate them, I'm certainly not going to embarrass myself by posting it on a concert venue's facebook page saying, "Ugh. Nickelsuck" or as one guy put it, "Nickelback as a Headliner, wow such garbage..."

To the haters, I say, If you don't like a show, don't go. It's really that simple. Why on earth does someone who hates a band, feel the need to throw their opinion in like anyone actually cares? Just look at the show details and say, TO YOURSELF, "Well, it looks like I won't be going to that show", and leave it at that. Literally NOBODY cares whether you hate a band or not and you just embarrass yourself by commenting with a completely unoriginal thought. Wow, you've said the same exact thing 20 other people have said in the SAME post.

Everybody has that ONE band they do not like. Everyone. For me, it was Offspring. Why? I don't know. I truly do not know why I didn't like them...but then I saw them at Rock Fest. The only reason I went out to see them was because my whole group did and I didn't want to be sitting there alone drinking beer. I wanted to go where the party was. Once Offspring started playing, I was blown away. I think I sang along to every song they played. It was an amazing show and I'm now a fan and would go see them again if given the chance.

So, if you can take anything away from this little post, remember:

1. If you're going to Rock Fest just for the bands, you're doing it wrong. Yes, it's about great music but it's also about being with friends and having a great time.

2. Don't hate on a band because you think it's the "cool" thing to do and all your friends are doing it. If you like them, then enjoy the show. if you don't, then get out of the way so a fan can sit/stand there and enjoy it.
