Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The National Weather Service has included the Rochester area in a winter weather advisory until 7 AM on Sunday while most of the rest of the state is under a winter storm warning.

Only the far southeast corner and the most southern tier of counties in Minnesota are under the winter weather advisory because temperatures were predicted to remain warm enough during the afternoon to keep much of the precipitation liquid or in a mix of rain, freezing rain and sleet before it transitioned into slushy snow in the evening.

At this point, the National Weather Service is predicting 2 to 6 inches of snow will accumulate in southeastern Minnesota with 2 to 4 inches expected in the Rochester area. The heaviest snow is now expected in western Minnesota where the totals could be a foot or higher. The updated forecast for the Twin Cities area is now calling about 6 inches of snow by Sunday morning.
