Some people out there are scumbags (I know this personally). But to me, this is a new low. Have you heard of 'dog flipping' before? According to KIMT, this is when someone steals a pet, then turns around and tries to sell it to an animal shelter or directly to an individual.

It boggles my mind how someone can be that horrible of a human being. Who steals another person’s pet? I can’t imagine how furious and heartbroken I would be if my dog was snatched just so some lowlife d-bag can make, what, a couple hundred bucks? It’s not only awful for the owners, but the dogs themselves. It’s just terrible all around, and I hope whoever actually does this steps on a million Legos. Apparently, dog flippers typically look for expensive and popular dog breeds to steal.

In case you’re wondering, these are the most popular dog breeds from 2016 according to the American Kennel Club:

  1. Retrievers (Labrador)
  2. German Shepherds
  3. Retrievers (Golden)
  4. Bulldogs
  5. Beagles
  6. French Bulldogs
  7. Poodles
  8. Rottweilers
  9. Yorkshire Terriers
  10. Boxers

The scary thing? This has happened in the Rochester area before. This is why it’s important to consider the source when shopping for a dog. Spaying or neutering your pet can also help lower their “black market” value. Gross. On a much lighter note, here’s a video of a dog literally flipping.

Ahhh, much better.
