I Found the Best Itch Stopper for Mosquito Bites in MN (Sorry, Iowa)
The mosquitoes are here and they got us itchin' for a fight! The little buzzy buggers won't leave us alone when we want to hang out on the deck, in the back yard, and bite bite bite is all they do. No conversation, no "how do you do", nothing but blood suckin' evil!
Today I want to share two methods of itch stopping. An entomologists and mine. I like mine better, because, well, it's mine. Dr. Jonathan Oliver, a public health entomologist at the University of Minnesota specializes in vector-borne diseases from the University of Minnesota. Vector-borne? What? From Google...
vec·tor /ˈvektər/
noun
2. an organism, typically a biting insect or tick, that transmits a disease or parasite from one animal or plant to another.
So, Jonathan Oliver specializes in mosquitoes and ticks and infectious diseases. The good news is, we're unlikely to catch a horrible disease from all the mosquitoes. The bad news? All the mosquitoes! The good news? The video up top explains one easy way to stop the itch is to dilute ammonia and put it on you bite.Click play for details.
What about MY way?
WHAT TO DO
- Take a cloth
- Bunch up a bit so you have a skinny ghost
- Get the tip BARELY wet.
- Microwave it for about 5 seconds to get the tip super hot.
- Place the hot wet part against the bite and deal with the pain. If it doesn't hurt, it's not hot enough.
- Do it as soon as you get the bite, the itch will be gone forever. Wait a bit, and it'll be about 24 hours before you need to repeat the process.
WHY IT WORKS
I learned this from a Mayo specialist when I was working nights. She said it super heats the "poison" inside the bite and that makes the itch go away. She didn't say "sterilizes" but I think that's what she meant. Either way, it works a treat!
PS - JUST KIDDING IOWA! lol
