High School Kids Have to Pay a Fine for Being Tardy
With the start of a new school year, an interesting approach to tardiness caught my attention! There is a high school that is charging students for being late to class. Do you think this would work in Rochester?
Teen Vogue claims a school in Utah is doing things out of the norm - they are charging students a fine for being late to class. "First time offenders receive a warning while second-time offenders are fined $3. Students are then fined an additional $5 every time they are late after that."
According to the article it seems to be working.
What do you think? For me, I'm the girl that's always on time, typically early. I hate being late with a passion, so it wouldn't effect me much. I say do it! I don't think it's a bad idea to instill this into a kid's mind now. The sooner they discover that being late has consequences, the faster they learn, right? Being on time is a habit, a learned task, that some kids/people never pick up.
