Here’s Why Jacob Wetterling Was Trending On Twitter Yesterday

Yesterday afternoon, I noticed that Jacob Wetterling was the number one trending topic on Twitter. "Probably a new case development." I thought, but this is much cooler...

After clicking a few links, and figuring out why he was trending, I was impressed! Governor Mark Dayton has decided to have the I-35W bridge glow blue (starting tonight) for eleven days to honor Jacob Wetterling. This case has truly gripped the hearts and minds of Minnesotans, and the nation - I'm happy to see Jacob remembered!

Our sister station KROC-AM reports, "Dayton indicated blue was chosen to represent child abuse prevention and the 11 day schedule reflects a request from the Wetterling family to honor Jacob’s memory through the number 11, which was the number he often wore on jerseys for sports." Apparently, the 1-35W bridge was the only one capable of glowing that way.

We're also encouraged to use #11forJacob throughout the duration of the blue glow to help honor Jacob.
