Almost 30 years ago, two guys went to a Judas Priest show in Maryland and they got it all on film. When Rock Fest announced Judas Priest as a headliner, I couldn't help but think of this video from 1986.

From the YouTube description of the video:

Plot: Heavy Metal Parking Lot documents heavy metal music fans tailgating in the parking lot outside the Capital Centre (which was demolished in December 2002) in Landover, Maryland, on May 31, 1986, before a Judas Priest concert (with opening act Dokken).

I remember those days. The Cosby Show was ruling TV, MTV actually played music videos, Mario Bros. on NES was the shizzle and there were cartoons on Saturday morning. Good times.

This is how we looked and acted. I had the long hair, but it's naturally curly and looked more like an afro. I had a bunch of cassettes and vinyl like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Keel, Stryper, and Queensryche. You name it, we had it and we'd crank it up on our "boom boxes." The bigger the radio, the better and we'd walk all over the place with a handful of cassettes and crank the music. Yep, good times.

Not sure what year this was taken but it was certainly the 80's

Anyway, back to the "Heavy Metal Parking Lot." Check out the video below and if you grew up in the 80's, you can probably relate to each one of these "kids." I know I can. Be sure to show this to your kids. They'll get a good laugh about it. Good times, indeed.

Keep an eye out for the dude in the DC/101 shirt. Every time I hear "Livin' After Midnight" I think of him. He's ruined that song for me now. Thanks, creepy dude.

And now, the same two film makers caught up with some of the "kids" in 2006, to see what they had done with their lives.
