Hayfield Man Arrested After Weekend Stabbing in Dodge Center
Dodge Center, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Hayfield man was arrested after allegedly stabbing a friend over the weekend in Dodge Center.
34-year-old Tyler Stroud is in Steele County Jail on felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, felony fifth-degree drug possession, felon in possession of ammunition, and two counts of misdemeanor weapons possession.
Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose said that the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported stabbing in Dodge Center just after 12:40 pm Saturday. A married couple reported a friend, Stroud, arrived at their home and was not acting himself. The married couple asked Stroud to leave and he refused. This led to a confrontation where Stroud allegedly stabbed a 30-year-old male and fled in a Chevrolet sedan.
On Sunday afternoon, The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Minnesota State Patrol that they were following Stroud driving the same vehicle. Patrol cars from multiple agencies including the State Patrol, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office followed the vehicle without lights or sirens. This was in an effort to avoid another pursuit in hopes of getting the vehicle to stop at some point and safely take Stroud into custody without risk of harming him or others on the roadway.
Stop sticks were used on Highway 14 but Stroud drove around them.
The vehicle continued to drive on random roads in both Dodge and Olmsted County before stopping at a stop sign at 11th Street and Olmsted County Road 5. Two Dodge County Deputies boxed in the vehicle and Stroud was taken into custody with no further incident.
The 30-year-old victim was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As of Tuesday afternoon, the victim was still at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Stroud’s unconditional bail was set at $200,000.
