Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman with a history of DUI offenses is being given a chance to avoid a prison sentence for her most recent conviction.

35-year-old Arek Chuor was given a stayed prison sentence of 42 months for her conviction on a felony DUI charge stemming from her arrest last September. The judge in the case also ordered her to spend 70 days in jail with work-release privileges after 147 days of electronic home monitoring. Chuor will also be on probation for seven years, during which she faces the possibility of having to serve the prison sentence if she violates the terms of her probation.

The criminal complaint filed against her indicated her blood-alcohol-level was tested at three times the legal limit about two hours after an officer saw her driving erratically and stopped her on the evening of September 4. The court document noted Chuor's six-year-old daughter was in the vehicle and the arresting officer noted her "speech was deliberate, incoherent, and slurred, and her eyes were glassy.".

She was also under a court order that required her vehicle to be equipped with an ignition interlock device that was issued after her arrest on suspicion of drunk driving in November 2020. Coincidentally, the same officer was responsible for both arrests.

Court records show Chuor has three additional DWI convictions on her record. They occurred in 2011, 2014, and 2019.
