Mantorville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Twin Cities truck driver who caused a deadly crash in Dodge County last winter while attempting to pass a vehicle in dense fog has pleaded guilty to a criminal vehicular homicide charge.

30-year-old Hashim Saddiq also entered a guilty plea to one count of criminal vehicular operation and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 1st. When he was originally charged last summer, Siddiq also faced a 2nd-degree manslaughter charge.

The criminal complaint says he was passing a vehicle in dense fog on Highway 14 near Claremont when the semi-truck he was driving smashed into a car driven by 58-year-old Todd Anderson of Owatonna. Anderon suffered serious injuries and his wife, 67-year-old Allison Anderson, was killed in the crash on February 2nd.

The State Patrol investigation determined the primary factor in the deadly crash was "unsafe passing during heavy fog." The report also states Siddiq was still classified as a "student driver" and was accompanied by another driver at the time of the wreck.
