While the wildfires are raging in the west, many people have or are considering moving to a more climate-friendly location. Believe it or not, that's right here in Minnesota.

It's true! People from California and other places suffering from the effects of climate change have picked our state as a refuge. Our cooler temperatures and abundant water will continue to make Minnesota a sanctuary in comparison to some other coastal parts of the country.

Of course, being in our "climate refuge" has a price to pay - winter. It can be a real shock for out-of-towners when they have their first winter storm or sub-zero day. Many of these newcomers have never even seen snow before or had the opportunity to drive in it. There's definitely a learning curve.
