Google Plus Class Action Lawsuit, Legit or Just Another Scam?

We have been seeing a lot of online scams recently with more and more people working from home. Most of the time, you can immediately tell if something is a scam or not, but there are times that those emails look so legitimate that it makes you second guess.

Take this email for example, the first line of the email states that, "You are not being sued. This notice affects your rights. Please read carefully". Most of the time, thats a good thing to read, but for some people this may put up a red flag. The most common type of scam that is happening online right now is called Phishing. By definition, phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers. So you can see why this email would make an individual second guess if this was in fact a legitimate email or not.

After some digging and research, this email is legitimate and NOT a scam. According to Fast Company, they can indeed confirm that email was sent from Google after many people questioned if it was real or not. Google also confirmed the legitimacy of the email as well via twitter but even their link was marked as a phishing scam from some browsers.
