Pine City, MN (KROC-AM News) - The funeral for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer who was killed in the line of duty last Friday will take place this Friday at the Pine City Civic Center.

An obituary posted by the Swanson Funeral Chapel says the memorial service for Officer Eugene Wynn is scheduled to begin at noon and will follow a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The 43-year-old DNR employee died Friday night when he apparently drowned after being thrown off a boat on Cross Lake in Pine City. A Pine County Sheriff's Deputy was also thrown into the water and was rescued by a witness to the incident, which began when the two officers were told that a possible body had been spotted on the lake and they went to investigate.

On Sunday, a procession of law enforcement vehicles accompanied the hearse that transported the officer’s body from the medical examiner’s office in the Twin Cities to the funeral home in Pine City. Law officers and citizens were seen standing alone I-35 as the procession passed to show their support for the fallen officer. Wynn was the 22nd DNR officer to die in the line of duty.

Officer Wynn is survived by his wife, a son, and daughter.
