How much do you know about beer and its history? Factslides.com put out a list called “Beer Facts: 14 Facts About Beer.”  Here are a few of my favorites from their list:

*A Beer Wave of 388,000 gallons of beer flooded London in 1814 after a huge vat ruptured. 

*George Washington had his own brewhouse on the grounds of Mount Vernon. 

*Egyptian pyramid workers were paid with beer.  A gallon per day. 

*The oldest known recipe for beer is over 4,000 years old, made by Sumerians. 

*In the Middle Ages, beer was consumed more than water as the alcohol made is safer. 

*The world’s longest hangover lasted 4 weeks after a Scotsman consumed 60 pints of beer. 

*At any given time, 0.7% of the world is drunk.  So 50 million people are drunk right now. 

*Cenosillicaphobia is the fear of an empty beer glass. 

*Light is what makes beer go bad. 

*Beer is claimed to help prevent cardiac disease and cognitive decline.
