Fort Myers, Florida (KROC AM News) - The Florida State Attorney’s Office 20th Judicial Circuit announced today that they have filed a Notice of Intent to Seek the Death Penalty in the case against Lois Riess.

Lois Riess is accused of murdering Pamela Hutchinson on Fort Myers Beach in April of 2018. She was indicted by the Lee County Grand Jury with the capital offense of First Degree Murder with a firearm on June 6th. She was also indicted for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Grand Theft and Criminal use of Personal Identification Information of a Deceased individual. She remains in custody on a no bond hold, according to Samantha Syoen, Communications Director of Flordia State's Attorney Office.

Back on June 20th, the Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose released a statement indicating the Dodge County Attorney received the investigative reports on the death of 54-year-old David Riess several weeks ago and is currently waiting for the results of tests on the gun used to murder a Florida woman to determine if the same weapon used to kill the rural Blooming Prairie man at his home in late March.

The statement notes the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension crime lab has completed some testing, but technicians are waiting for the arrival of some evidence from Florida to conduct ballistics exams.
