Five Finger Death Punch’s ‘Sham Pain’ Blasts Doubters
We're less than one month away from the release of Five Finger Death Punch's new album, And Justice for None. The band already released one confrontational track, "Fake," and have followed it up with another equally angsty cut, "Sham Pain."
This song is multi-faceted, opening with a brawny, chugging riff that sinks into the background as the rigid beat keeps the track moving while Ivan Moody discharges a bit of a rap cadence, slamming select news media outlets. The chorus embraces a different mentality as the singer reflects, "All in all it's a good life / I got what I want / I can't complain / I'm living the good life / A toast to you now / It's all sham pain."
"'Sham Pain' is a lyrical snapshot of probably the biggest, yet most chaotic year of this band's career,” guitarist Zoltan Bathory states. “Everyone has a different way of dealing with the moments when life hands them lemons… some complain and some make lemonade. Us, we pour gasoline on it and then hit it with a rocket launcher. Sarcasm has always been our Art of War (if from naming the band ‘Five Finger Death Punch’ you haven’t figured it out yet), but just wait until you see the video we made for this song.”
