Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A fire broke out late Tuesday night at a Rochester apartment complex.

The call about a fire on the roof of the building came in at 10:00 PM from Eastgate Apartments at 1217 Eastgate Dr. SE.

The Rochester Fire Dept. says crews arrived to find flames showing from the roof on the west side of the building. They also found light smoke and water on the fourth floor and heavier smoke in the attic space where a fire had been extinguished by the sprinkler system.

The fire that was still burning on the exterior of the building was put out and crews removed water from the fourth-floor apartments and cleared smoke from the building.

RFD says one occupant was evaluated at the scene due to difficulty breathing. There is no word yet on the cause of the fire or the damage estimate.
