The Farmer's Almanac called for a flip-flop winter last year and a scorching hot summer with big storms. They were pretty close with both long-term forecasts, which is impressive considering how far out they release their predictions. 

The publication's managing editor said they released this year's winter outlook to "help people prepare for what's expected." Below you'll see just how bad the winter of 2022/2023 will be for residents in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

It's looking like we'll definitely have a white Christmas - we might even have a white Thanksgiving. The experts at the almanac think winter will arrive earlier this year than it did last.

It's Minnesota. We know it's going to snow and we know it's going to be cold, but Mother Nature might hit a little harder this year.

The Farmer's Almanac is describing our region as the "hibernation" zone.

Yep, you're going to spend a lot of time indoors avoiding the brutal cold. You will be forced out to shovel or snow blow though because lots of snow is expected too.

Sandy Duncan told WJON, " We're saying you're going to shake, shiver, and shovel! And, shake might mean you wanna shake your head when you find out what we're predicting. We are saying it's going to be very cold. In your area, we're calling it the Hibernation Zone. (The outlook) is calling for some unreasonably cold conditions and very full of snow."
