Deadly Wreck near Bemidji

Bemidji, MN (KROC AM News) - An icy road may have played a role in a deadly traffic wreck in northern Minnesota.

It happened Thursday morning on a rural section of Highway 71 south of Bemidji.

The State Patrol says a car driven by 18-year-old Elise Sikes of Hudson, WI lost control and crashed into another vehicle. Its driver was 75-year-old Dale Maves of Park Rapids. He died at the scene.

Sikes and two passengers - 18-year-old Marta Christensen of Hudson and 19-year-old Saketh Rajendran of Brooklyn Park - suffered injuries described as non-life threatening.
