St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - COVID-19 is blamed for two more deaths and has put two more people in ICU in Minnesota.

The State Health Department's daily update on the coronavirus pandemic shows 76 tests for the new viral illness came back positive yesterday, raising the statewide total to 865. The tally for Olmsted County increased by a dozen and now stands at 88. Throughout Minnesota, 440 people who became ill have now recovered and no longer need to be isolated.

There have been 24 coronavirus-related deaths in Minnesota since the start of the pandemic. A total of 180 people have required hospitalization. 95 people are currently hospitalized and 42 of them are in intensive care.

There have been almost 25,500 tests administered for COVID-19 statewide and about half of that total was handled by the Health Department Public Health Lab. The daily report also shows the vast majority of the people who have tested positive for the coronavirus, 80-percent, live in private residences, 3-percent reside in long-term care facilities, and 2-percent live in assisted living centers.
